log 1: the start
Hello World!
Another rotation around the sun has made me realize that I am a builder. Whether it’s physically building a project, creating a silly short-form video for Instagram, or starting a blog, all I want to do is create. I love learning new skills and making something of it. Starting something new with absolutely no prior knowledge (blogging), is exciting but a scary endeavor. In this first log, I’d first like to identify my goals for this blog, but first, I want to introduce myself briefly.
My name is Alex and I turned 23 last week. I grew up in Singapore, but currently live in Boston. I graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S in Bioengineering with a concentration in Biomechanics and a minor in Business Administration. Pretty normal stuff, but here’s where I’m a little different … I think. I come from a line of scholars and entrepreneurs, so creation and the thirst for knowledge are in my DNA. The lessons I was taught when I was young have only come to fruition within the past year, coincidentally, when I decided to start my own company.
So what are my goals for this blog?
While I never considered myself to be good at writing or even considered myself to be a writer, there’s something that drew me into having a written memoir about my journey in life and entrepreneurship. I figured that writing a development log that captures the successes, failures, and processes that goes into starting a company is also another form of building something. However, there is also a line I want to draw before I dedicate all my life’s energy to building a company and forget to experience the world. Not only do I want to document the process I take to build a company and a product, I want to document the adventures I take, the food I eat and cook, and my fitness growth.
I hope that my little slice of life can inspire someone to try something new and also serve as a memoir when I look back in 20 years.
