progress
This week was a huge week in terms of progress. Another lesson I learned during my trip to Europe is how much harder I have to work at home. Especially, if I want this idea actually to become successful. I spent a lot of time thinking about how I will continue progressing with my app and its features, but now it’s time to act. Here are all the things that I accomplished this week.
The structure of my app is now close to completion. It is able to read and write to the database online based on multiple variables. This felt like a miniature breakthrough. All I need to do now is create the brains of the operation, which is the hard part.
I manually added 100 entries to my database so that my app could read from different pathways instead of a default value I set. There might be a better way to import this data in the future, but for now, it stays as manual labor.
I completed a first-time setup that helps me understand my client better after they register with the app. Then it writes a calculated variable and other client data to their unique ID in Firebase.
I still have miles and miles to go before I’m even close to launching anything. Even testing as a matter of fact. But at this stage, it feels great. It feels like I have the structure of my building all set up nicely. Now all I need to do is to begin making all the floors. After that I can begin decorating those floors, and so forth. I was a little worried earlier in the month that I was going about the project wrong by focusing on the structure entirely. However, doing so let me see the path of the overall project much better. To continue the building analogy. If I built one floor at a time, nothing would ever get done and so many things could go wrong. Every great structure started with… structure, then the refining, then the final touches. So that’s how I’m going to continue the progression of my app. Get all the screens right, get the basic functions running, refine and develop a better algorithm, then do the final touches. But that isn’t all that I have on my plate anymore. Now that I’m getting close to the “ develop a better algorithm” part, I’m going to need some people that are smarter than I am. So this coming week I also get to look forward to the actual start of my company. It will be fun to write about the steps I take to form that entity. And soon I’ll be able to share some photos of my app, I hope?
