log 201: seminar
houston
This weekend I was able to attend a Combined Sections Meeting for Physical Therapy. It was amazing. I was worried because after the weekend I would have seven exams in four days. However, I decided to take the leap of faith because I wanted to be inspired. I wanted to see what other people had to offer in my field without spilling anything about Kynetik. I am so glad I went. The entire time I acted like a leech. I went to booths to talk to creators and physicians about their product with one thought in mind, “what can I steal for Kynetik.” I was looking for ideas, for ways to market my product, for clever features, anything. Always go to these events. I left feeling inspired for the future only because my competitors gave me tons of great new ideas. Aside from trying to be a leech, I attended some great research talks. One of my favorites was about markerless motion tracking, which is basically movement analysis with a phone. This is exactly a feature I want in Kynetik except for functional movements rather than gait. Going to this talk makes me realise that research really is something that I would consider in the future. Like the panel of speakers, they were developing technology for PTs to use. One thing at a time, but it’s time to make some moves that put my foot in the research door.
