log 231: rebrand

I knew this day would come eventually. And today is finally the day. I have officially rebranded Kynetik into Marmu. Tons of people asked me why and there were two main reasons. Kynetik sounded childish to me, and its spelling caused people to download the wrong app. I was tired of people showing me the app store after typing “Kinetic” and another app popped up. This was terrible for my app. I couldn’t tell someone I made a fitness app only to have them download another app. Second, I wouldn't be able to secure a trademark on Kynetik like I would on Marmu. Part of my thought process as a business man is to secure my assets in the future, and trademarking is a great way to do so. So, I’ve officially changed my app to Marmu. Where did it come from? It came from school and a mnemonic my friends and I used to study the brachial plexus with. Muskulocutaneous, Axillary, Radial, Median, and Ulnar. MARMU. It’s perfect. Some coaches won’t understand it and most physicians will. I love the “if you know you know” kind of feeling it gives me. Since the rebrand in mid June I’ve started the trademark process. Now it’s time to seriously start marketing.
