log 36: separation
work
I have finally gotten around to reading Atomic Habits. There’s a lot of great information that’s interesting to compare my habits with. My discipline was built from going to the gym consistently and from how my parents raised me. One thing that I read recently was particularly interesting, the physical separation between work and personal time. Using it to your advantage to get the setting right in order to have a more significant impact on productivity. I have been putting so much work into my app, by filming videos and coding features, I don’t really take any time off. So I’m testing out two things this week, taking a day off on Wednesday and using two different desks. One desk for gaming and other fun stuff, and one desk for working. I’m interested to see if this physical separation of where I work will boost my focus. There are far fewer distractions even though I only sit 4 feet away. Taking Wednesday off has two main reasons. The first, and main, reason is to let my body rest from the gym. I’ve been absolutely grinding out exercise videos and my body needs a little recovery. Second, I’m hoping the midweek break will help my motivation and productivity during the rest of the week. I have many hours of busy work to look forward to. My goal is to get it all done at once.
