log 154: patient

management

One of my most influential classes so far in the semester is Basics of Patient Management. I’m learning so much about how to treat a patient. We are so often worried about how to get new clients we rarely look at how to treat them well. Throughout the course I’m learning so much about how to gather information about the client and their injury. One of the biggest lessons I have learned so far is that the patient is not their injury. Too often in the medical profession practitioners look at their patients as an injury and treat them as such. In physical therapy our goal is to return the client to their normal life, so we have to treat them as a whole instead of tunneling into their injury. It is giving me a lot of insight to how I want to structure the goals and initial survey of Kynetik. I’m glad I have something to relate the things I’m learning to. It helps me understand the information and how I can potentially use it.
