log 21: phase 1

summary

Now that the first phase I planned is ending, I figured I would write about what I have done so far. The main objective of the first phase was to build a foundation. In terms of a product, I wanted to create the MVP all by myself so that I would understand how the app works from a backend perspective and also learn a couple of new skills. I know the realm of coding is extremely open-ended so I focused on creating the minimum product for my first testing phase, which is going to happen around October of this year. Now that my app is reaching a point where things are coming together it was time to scale my team. I am not ready to hire yet, because I can still do everything myself to keep costs low. However, I know there is a gap in my knowledge of strength and conditioning coaching. While I know exactly how to train myself, it isn’t as easy to train other people with less motivation and discipline. So now I reached the point where I need to expand the consultant area of my team. This will give me a better understanding of how to structure the features and progression of my app. No matter how good I think it is, it’s easy to fall into a trap because I’m working alone. Getting into the business mindset means I need to reflect on what I’ve done and what I need to do. How can I take what I’ve already done and make it better and ready to go for the initial test?

work done in order:

  • Learned swift

  • Read the CSCS Textbook for training information

  • Began coding the foundation of my MVP

  • Hired a lawyer to set up a company and draft NDAs for consultants

work to be done before October:

  • Create training videos and finish database v1.

  • Finish the linear progression of client experience.

  • Finish the basic design of my app for the initial test. Hire a designer after.

  • Take and pass the CSCS exam.

focus for work until October:

  • User experience is the absolute number 1 focus. I am making the app for the client, not myself.

  • Creating a solid foundation for my company. This includes personal loans, accounting, and consultants.
