Somehow I’m always travelling during exam season. There was a small break between the first and second week of finals so I thought it would be nice to go see Karen in Montreal. Luckily, the second week of finals wasn't too bad so there wasn’t too much to study for. My biggest worry was meeting her dad for the first time. After all the exams and high level testing - I wasn’t too worried. Nothing could be more stressful than the anatomy final. But of course, a good first impression means everything. We had a simple meeting and it was nice to sit with her family for breakfast. Her mother is a really great cook, hopefully I can learn from her one day. I got to see what her family was like on a typical Sunday and it was very wholesome. They are already in the grandparent phase because of Karen’s nephew and I thought it was so funny. Lots and lots of baby noises and crying. My family gathering experience is so different from hers. I’m excited to see what they’re like when they are more comfortable around me.
