ikura

Yesterday I had the most incredible experience at my uncle's restaurant in Japan. I’ve had a lot of ikura, red caviar, but always in sushi form. However, yesterday was an out-of-world experience. My uncle went to the market at 3 AM to pick up a mind-blowing amount of ikura, a whole bowl worth. The texture was so different than what I was used to when having it with sushi. The freshness of the egg made the texture similar to a popping boba. A big spoonful with rice, a bit of wasabi, and a bit of soy sauce was unreal. There was so much umami from such simple ingredients. It was such a luxurious and incredible opportunity to eat something like that. Four ingredients, all great quality. My recipes don’t have to be the most overbearing and pretentious dish. It can be light, simple, and fun to eat. Same with my code. Doesn’t have to be the most complicated thing. Light, simple, and fun. It sends me back to one of my very first logs where I mentioned KISS. Keep it simple, stupid.
