log 87: steps

Yet another couple of days of exploration and zero work gone by. It feels like I’ve been taking such a long time off work, but I’ve got to enjoy it. It has been nice to spend quality time with my grandparents; it has been so long. So much has happened in the five years away from them. We took a trip back to the mountain that they live on. We spent so much of our time there as children. Yet, somehow, this was the first time we did so much exploration. They took us to the top of the mountain, where we saw a natural sulfur deposit. It was truly unique, and I got to see where all the rotten egg smell came from. While returning to the car, I found this little path that caught my attention. I figured I would take a quick walk up and see what there was. After about 5 minutes of walking up broken cobblestone stairs, I couldn’t see the end. I was just about to turn around and go back to the rest of the party, but I just had a feeling that there was going to be a cool lookout. I couldn’t turn around, thinking I would miss the opportunity to see an amazing landscape, so I just continued. After another 5 minutes, I reached a small lookout with an incredible view. It was worth it. Sometimes, the reward is just on the other side of a small obstacle. If I had given up at that moment, I would have missed out on the opportunity. I was reminded to keep on pushing even though I don’t entirely know what I’m doing all the time. Step by step, I’ll get somewhere.
