log 105: books
reading?
Coming from a family of book nerds, I had to read a lot. When I was a kid I remember being so captivated by stories that I could read forever. Unfortunately, once I discovered video games, I lost all my motivation to read. Within the past year I rediscovered my passion for reading through growth books. Books like Atomic Habits, Meditations, The One Thing. Huge fantasy books like The Sword of Kaigen every now and then. In this new journey of reading I discovered a way to read that makes it even more fun. Not really reading. I have been using Audible, which is an audio book service, and reading at the same time. While I’m looking at the words I’m listening to the narrator. It’s a completely different experience. The pace and the tone really help my understanding of the books. Even when I’m not looking at the words I try to listen to the book. With my very busy schedule I don’t often find the time to read as much as I want to. While I know that audio books aren’t really a complete substitute, it is such a great way to absorb knowledge. When I do have the time however, listening and reading the book has helped my comprehension of the text a great amount.
