log 106: progress

updates

In the past few days I have been back from my trip. I have done quite a bit with my app. After reading The One Thing and starting my work sessions with a focusing question. The work has been flowing much easier. I haven’t done anything with the styling so far, I’m still leaving that to the end because it is the least important task. I have been focusing on loading and writing data in each area that needs to do so. While going through the motions of sending and receiving data, I get to revise over my previous pathways. Is it the most efficient way I can query? Do I even need this function or feature? There have been a couple times in the past few days where I pondered those questions. In the end, I decided to cut a bunch of things or merge them. While I was focused in the past I was too fixated on something that wasn’t needed. Essentially, redoing my app has given me the chance to challenge my own work. The previous meeting I had about developing a product told me that the main thing I need to do is develop my product. Get a simple version that is out and about to monitor what things people actually like. I didn’t cut the entire head off of some of my functions, just put them on hold. So, the next week is going to be about making the MVP functions work, then making them pretty. Then get the app back into my tester's hands. Lots of work to do.
