log 149: start

nervous

This was my first official week in my new DPT Program at USC. It has been very exciting to start meeting and introducing myself to fellow students and my professors. I can tell that I am going to have to put in a lot of hard work in order to do well and learn a lot. One thing that I am trying to actively achieve is changing how I learn so that I actually understand the material, rather than memorizing, and participating in class. It is my goal to change my study techniques so that I set myself up for a more organized study session. Currently, what I am doing is writing what I need to study by hand during the lecture, like a study guide. After the lecture, I’ll try to recall what those concepts are before I look at the lecture slides to fill it in. At the end of the study session I would have tried to recall information and created a study guide. From there, I will quickly copy and paste important terms into flashcards because there are an enormous amount of terms. Additionally, it is my goal to ask one question per class. Of course there are some days when I don’t have any. But if I do, I’m going to ask! It is something I never did in undergrad so I want to purposely make the change.
