progress
This past week I was able to get started on and finish a lot of work. From the coding side of things, I added a lot of back-end code that optimizes what I have done so far. I have finally gotten my app on my phone so that I can check how things run on an actual device instead of a simulator. My computer is much faster and stronger than any iPhone out there so I was worried that the simulator was running much faster than a physical device would. However, from my recent tests, it actually works just about the same. Still feels good to have my app on my phone though! I also added the functionality of gaining experience points after finishing a workout so that the person can actually start progressing through the skill trees I am setting up this coming week. So the way it works is: start a workout, finish a workout, gain experience, level up skills, unlock new exercises, and repeat. Now I just need to finish writing the code that displays the skill tree on the skill tree tab and I’ll be that much closer to testing! From the information side of things, I have been absolutely grinding video creation. I knew I would be making exercise videos for my database so I figured I would post them online. Previously, I struggled with consistent content creation because I would always edit the videos to music. I would spend so long trying to find a perfect song with a good beat to edit too. But now I just post. It’s so much easier, low stakes, and lets me be consistent with it. So far, it’s been going great! Instagram posting is just a side thing anyways because I’m also uploading the videos to youtube which will be used in my app. This coming week I’m going to continue making the videos for my database and start designing the skill trees. In order for me to design these skill trees properly I am going to be consulting good friends of mine who have more experience training clients. I know the video game side of things, but real-world experience plays a much bigger factor when designing things like this. Looking forward to it!
